A man walked into my uncles liquors store yesterday and ask how to make jello shots.

My uncle sells liquor and he didn’t know the answer to the question. But the best guess he could make was to say, “Follow the directions on the back of a jello box and substituted alcolhol for water.” The guy then asked, “What kind of alcohol should I use?”. He remembered somewhere that people used vodka sometimes. So that was his answer.

This intrigued me, so I decided to try this out for myself.

After looking around I found this recipe and tried it:

1 (6-ounce) box jello, any flavor of your choice
2 cups boiling water
2 cups vodka

Directions:

Pour into a bowl, boiling water over Jello and stir until thoroughly dissolved. Cool to room temperature, then stir in the vodka. Pour the mixture shot cups. Refrigerate until well-set about 6 hours. Makes about 32 1-ounce jello shots.

My friend asked me, “What are jello shooters?” I had to laugh because if you think about it. Is it another name for jello shots or are jello shooters the people who take jello shots?

I wasn’t quite sure, so I decided to investigate this very important issue. Jello shooters? The shot itself or the person taking the shot? After some investigation I have come to the conclusion that jello shooters could be used in either way.

Definition:

Jello shooters:

1. The people that partake in consuming  jello shots.

2. The plural of jello shooter. or another word synonymouswith jello shot.

So the next time you hear, “jello shooters lift up and drink your jello shooters.” You will now exactly what is meant.

Everybody has seen the jello shot. It is that little piece of inocent jello in a 1 ounce plastic cup that is on a tray at a party or bar being carried around and offered to people. People who are offered jello shot are being offered the opportunity to be the life of the party.

That is the simplicity of the jello shot.

A party can be turned around with the jello shot. Everyone is around drinking a few beers. The regular shot of alcohol is a little to much. Many won’t take it, maybe only the hardcore drinkers. Certainly most of the ladys won’t start doing shots.

But in the fridge is the jello shot. Waiting. It’s sweet and innocent.

I remember in college my friends and I decided to make jello shots.

Now we were all under age and of course were not allowed to drink. So one of us had the idea of .. Why don’t we put alcohol in jello, keep them in the fridge and we can have them any time we want to. This is what minors do when they are not supposed to be drinking or eating adult beverages. So if you are under the drinking age go away. You are in the wrong part of the internet!!!

If they searched our dorm room. There is only jello.

I’m sure that the searchers were wise to this kind of things.

But we tried anyway.

We got jello shots, but they never got really solid like jello should, but we partied and had a great time.

Why didn’t our jello shots set up? Well, to much alcohol and not enough water.

Follow the directions but substitute enough alcohol, but not so much that the jello never sets up. That’s the trick.
